Dr. Tiana Montell, founder and owner of Grace Animal Hospital, brings both to every appointment, along with a drive for continued learning that further sharpens her skills year after year.
Dr. Montell built Grace Animal Hospital in Holly Springs because she wanted a practice where pets are treated like family and owners are treated as true partners in their pet’s care. Her rigorous academic training, real-world clinical leadership, and personal commitment to staying at the front of her field shows in the way she runs the clinic today.
Meet Dr. Montell
Owner / Lead Veterinarian
Dr. Tiana Montell is a Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine graduate, a former Division I collegiate athlete, and the founder of Grace Animal Hospital, where she has built a practice around trust, communication, and fear-free handling.
She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at UC Davis, where she also competed as a Division I gymnast and served as co-captain of the team. Balancing a full course load with a demanding athletic schedule taught her how to manage pressure, stay focused through long days, and work toward a shared goal.
Those lessons didn’t disappear when she traded the gym for veterinary school. The discipline and composure she built as an athlete now show up in how she handles a packed schedule, a complicated diagnosis, or a stressful surgical case — without losing her calm. She went on to serve as Medical Director at multi-doctor practices in Oregon and in Cary, NC, before bringing that experience home to Holly Springs.

Veterinary medicine changes constantly, and Dr. Montell has structured her career around staying current rather than treating her degree as the finish line. She continues pursuing advanced surgical training on an ongoing basis, working to expand what our team can offer for procedures like orthopedic evaluations and soft tissue cases.
Her belief is that good medicine means never settling for what you already know — which is why she sees ongoing education as part of her responsibility to the pets and families who trust her.

Dr. Montell grew up in Hawaii and settled in Holly Springs several years ago. She isn’t a doctor who commutes in and leaves at the end of the day — she lives in this community, shops at the same stores, and understands the pace of life here because she’s part of it. She isn’t just treating four-legged patients; she’s caring for the pets of her neighbors.
At home she shares her life with three dogs: Gracie, a 13-year-old Goldendoodle, and two young American Bullies, Storm and Venom. Living with three dogs of different ages gives her firsthand understanding of what pet owners go through at every life stage. In her free time she loves the beach with her fiancé and her dogs, plus fishing, traveling, and trying new restaurants.
