Dr. Tiana Montell is the owner and lead veterinarian of Grace Animal Hospital. A lifelong advocate for animals and a passionate veterinary professional, she is committed to providing gold-standard medicine while creating a practice culture where both patients and the people who care for them can thrive. Dr. Montell earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the University of California, Davis, where she was also a Division I collegiate gymnast and co-captain of the gymnastics team. Her experience as a collegiate athlete helped shape the leadership, discipline, work ethic, and determination that continue to influence her approach to veterinary medicine and practice ownership. She went on to earn her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.
Originally from Hawaii, Dr. Montell has built her veterinary career across multiple practices and regions. Prior to relocating to North Carolina in 2023, she served as Medical Director of a multi-doctor practice in Oregon, where she managed a busy caseload while leading and supporting a veterinary team. After moving to North Carolina, she was promoted to Medical Director at a practice in Cary, where she developed strong and lasting relationships with clients and their pets.
Throughout her career, Dr. Montell has remained committed to practicing high-quality, compassionate medicine. She believes exceptional veterinary care begins with a strong doctor-client relationship built on trust, communication, and respect. Her approach incorporates fear-free principles to help patients feel as comfortable and safe as possible throughout their care. Her clinical interests include geriatric medicine, dermatology, and surgery.
As the owner of Grace Animal Hospital, Dr. Montell’s vision extends beyond excellent medicine. She is passionate about building a positive, collaborative culture where team members are supported, challenged to grow, and proud of the work they do. She believes that a strong team is the foundation of exceptional patient care and strives to create an environment where excellence, accountability, compassion, and continuous learning are part of everyday life.
Dr. Montell knew from a very young age that she wanted to become a veterinarian and continues to feel fortunate to have chosen a career that combines her love of animals with her passion for medicine, leadership, and lifelong learning. She is excited to continue growing Grace Animal Hospital while maintaining the personal relationships and high standard of care that are at the heart of the practice.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Montell enjoys spending time at the beach with her fiancé and three dogs: Gracie, her senior Goldendoodle, and Storm and Venom, her two young XL American Bullies. She also enjoys fishing, traveling, exploring new restaurants, and making the most of her time outdoors.
